The Project Management Jülich (PTJ) was founded in 1974 and is part of the Research Center Jülich GmbH. On behalf of federal and state ministries and the European Commission , PtJ implements research and innovation funding programs . In 2018 he oversaw a total of 23,426 ongoing research projects and managed 1.75 billion euros in funding.
history
The first forerunner of the Jülich project management agency was the Energy Research Project Management (PLE), which was founded in 1974 at what was then the Jülich nuclear research facility on the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology . In 1986 the PLE was merged with the Project Management Biotechnology (PTB) and the Project Management Ecological Research (PTU) to form the Project Management Biology, Ecology, Energy (PBE). In 1990 it was renamed Project Management Biology, Energy, Ecology (BEO). In 1996, the Project Management Agency for Research on Condensed Matter and New Technologies in the Humanities (PFR) was incorporated as a further project management agency. In 2001, BEO and the Project Management Agency for New Materials and Chemical Technologies (NMT) were merged to form the Project Management Agency Jülich. Due to these mergers, PtJ now covers a wide range of topics in research funding.
