The Ministry of Economics, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , abbreviated MWEBWV NRW , was a ministry in the state administration of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . It was dissolved with the formation of the government in 2012 and divided into the Ministry for Building, Housing, Urban Development and Transport and the Ministry for Economy, Energy, Industry, SMEs and Crafts , today's Ministry of Economics in North Rhine-Westphalia (since 2017 Ministry for Economy, Innovation, Digital and Energy ).
history
The department went back to the economics, reconstruction and transport ministries of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, all three of which were founded in 1946. Over the years these have been partially merged in different constellations, separated again and expanded to include additional areas of responsibility. From 2010 to 2012 there was only one single ministry for the first time, which was responsible for economy, construction and transport at the same time.
tasks
The duties of the Ministry of Economy, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport were
- the creation of optimal framework conditions for the economy in NRW,
- strengthening North Rhine-Westphalia as an innovative, promising and attractive business location,
- the preservation of North Rhine-Westphalia as the energy center of Germany,
- securing energy supplies and
- the supervision of the state office for road construction (also called state traffic office).
In addition, as the state planning authority, the ministry was responsible for the balanced use of land in the state.
The ministry was based in Düsseldorf . At the head of the ministry were Minister Harry Voigtsberger ( SPD ) and the (civil servant) State Secretary Günther Horzetzky . With the dissolution of the state parliament, the activities of the parliamentary state secretary for transport Horst Becker ( Greens ) ended automatically.
Business area
The business area of the Ministry of Economics, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Energy included the following areas:
- Industrial sectors, foreign trade
- Economic and structural development, medium-sized companies
- Energy, mining, climate protection
- Regional development and spatial planning
Subordinate agencies
The state cartel authority was also assigned to the Ministry of Economics, SMEs and Energy.
