Horst-Ludwig Riemer (born April 3, 1933 in Insterburg ; † October 2, 2017 in Monschau ) was a German politician ( FDP ). He belonged to three cabinets of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1953, Horst-Ludwig Riemer studied law and economics at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University of Cologne . In Cologne he joined the (expelled) Corps Marcomannia Breslau . When he was inactive , he moved to the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In 1960 he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . He then worked in the state administration from 1963 to 1966 and as a lawyer from 1966 . Since 2001, Riemer has been a partner in a law firm, auditor and tax consultant partnership in Düsseldorf. Horst-Ludwig Riemer was a member of the board of trustees of the Heinz Kühn Foundation . From 1969 to 1978 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . Riemer was married and had three children.

Horst-Ludwig Riemer belonged to the FDP since 1952. In 1963 he became a member of the state board of North Rhine-Westphalia and was chairman of the state association from 1972 to 1979. From 1972 to 1981 he was also a member of the federal executive committee of the FDP . Riemer was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1965 to 1980 and from 1985 to 1995. There he was deputy parliamentary group chairman from 1969/1970 and from 1990 to 1995 and vice-president of the state parliament from 1985 to 1990. From 1970 to 1979 he was Minister for Economy, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Transport in North Rhine-Westphalia . The planning for the 3rd Intercontinental Airport (3IF) in North Rhine-Westphalia was carried out under his responsibility . As economy minister, he was responsible for the 1979 resulting Ruhr Action Program of the Cabinet Rau I with. From 1980 to 1983 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Honors

Riemer was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit with Star of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was honorary master of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Crafts , holder of the Ring of Honor of the Aachen Chamber of Crafts and the gold trade mark of the Central Association of German Crafts . He received the Senator Lothar Danner Medal and the Georg Schulhoff Prize as well as the Gold Plaque of Merit from the North Rhine-Westphalia Singing Association , the Gold Medal of Honor from the German Traffic Guard and the Golden Badge of Honor from the German Animal Welfare Association.
