Fritz Stricker

Fritz Stricker (born May 4, 1897 in Aplerbeck , † July 9, 1949 in Recklinghausen ) was a German politician of the Center Party .

After graduating from high school, Stricker studied political science and economics and obtained his doctorate in 1921. rer. pole. From 1922 to 1926 the trained journalist was head of the Westphalia regional department of the Reich Central Office for Homeland Service . In 1926 he switched to the Münsterische Morgenpost as a publishing director and senior editor . In 1931 he also became a managing board member of the German-Dutch association and publisher of the Noaberschopp newspaper. He had to give up both activities in 1933 for political reasons.

In 1945 Stricker became general advisor for traffic and press chief of the Westphalian provincial government.

Political party

Stricker joined the center in 1919. In 1924 he became a city councilor in Münster in Westphalia , where he headed the center group for several years. In 1945, Stricker became a member of the board of directors when the Center Party was re-established and, since the party congress in Oberhausen on January 31, 1949, party chairman. He held the office until his death in a car accident.

In 1946 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of Westphalia and then from October 2, 1946 to July 2, 1947, he was a member of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1947 to 1949 he was also a member of the Economic Council, where he headed the Center Group, having previously belonged to the Zone Advisory Council of the British Zone of Occupation.

From August 29, 1946 to June 17, 1947, Stricker was Minister of Transport and State Press Chief of North Rhine-Westphalia in Rudolf Amelunxen's cabinet .
