Adelgunde Mertensacker

Adelgunde Mertensacker (born June 11, 1940 in Werl - Büderich ; † October 12, 2013 ) was a German politician for the Center Party and a founding member and chairwoman of the Christian Center party . Her political program placed great emphasis on the defense against Islam and homosexuality.

Life

Mertensacker was a lecturer for developmental psychology at the Dortmund department of the State University for Music Westphalia-Lippe (headquarters in Detmold ). In 1985, her teaching assignment was not renewed after students protested that she had used her events to convey ideological content. She was also the head of the music teacher seminar and a member of the state examination committee of the Detmold, Münster and Dortmund institutes.

From 1986 to 1987 she was federal chairman of the Center Party . After she was voted out of office, it was on her initiative to found the Christian Center Party , which she has been chairing ever since. According to its own statements, the party program focuses on the Christian Old Testament Ten Commandments . The party demands u. a. the reintroduction of criminal liability for homosexuality , regards Islam as undemocratic and Muslims as unwilling to integrate. She was president of the "International Anti-Islam Resistance Movement".

In addition, Adelgunde Mertensacker was chairman of the Association for the Protection of Weak and Helpless People , a social aid organization that mainly cares for pregnant women in need. Based on this association, the aid organization Casa Martin Maria ( Romania ) and the Thomas aid organization ( India ) were founded.

Mertensacker was interviewed by the party magazine of the Republicans and appeared at events organized by the German Conservatives around Joachim Siegerist .

Adelgunde Mertensacker was a Roman Catholic, married to Werner Mertensacker and had three adoptive sons.

She died a few hours after she was re-elected as party chairman at the Christian Center Europe Congress in Lippstadt.
