history

The place was first mentioned in the Corveyer lore . A cleric by the name of Wala had ceded his property in Büderich (then still Bodriki) to the Corvey monastery in the middle of the ninth century .

middle Ages

The knightly lineage of the Lords of Büderich has been documented since 1175 . A well-known relative was Lubbert von Büderich , abbot of the Cistercian monastery Marienfeld from 1294 to 1321. As part of the property of the Corvey monastery, a chapel dedicated to St. Vitus was built on the Mönninghofe in 1184 . A Gervasius de Bodrike moved to the Holy Land in 1217 with Count Gottfried von Arnsberg . Other landlords besides those of Bodrike were those of Borbenink, von Hake, von Berstrate, von Korte, von Kalff , von Prins, von Romberg , von der Recke , von Plettenberg , von Pentling and von Wiedenbrück. Besides Corvey Monastery, Oelinghausen Monastery and Welver Monastery also owned property in and near Büderich. During the Soest feud , the Soesters destroyed the customs tower and several cottages. In 1482 the Werlers committed great violence in Büderich.

A the pin Kunibert in Cologne belonging Berdinghof in Buederich was from 1250 to 1300 to the knight family of Berding awarded .

The Weckebrodthof , an old Corveyian fiefdom in Büderich, was mentioned in a document in 1370.

Due to its location on the old Heerstraße, the place was a customs post for the Archbishops of Cologne . In the Middle Ages there was a customs house on the hill. The customs house crew levied duties on travelers and traders who crossed the border between Grafschaft Mark and Kurköln . The customs house was part of the Kurköln Landwehr . The Landwehr moved in the form of ravines south to Schaffhausen, north to Haus Borg . The hill, which consists of the ruins of the customs house, is crowned by a saint's house. The cross in this wayside shrine was part of the crucifixion group in the church that was demolished in 1863.

Modern times

The municipality of Büderich (Westf.) Was created on January 1, 1964 through the merger of the communities of Ostbüderich and Westbüderich . On July 1, 1969, the place was incorporated into Werl.
