In 1223 the seat of the Knight of Blomendahl was in Blumenthal . In the Middle Ages, valleys and depressions with blooming flowers were called Blumdahl . Politically, the place belonged to the Duchy of Westphalia during the Middle Ages and the early modern period , which in turn was part of Kurköln . From 1816 to 1890 the municipality of Blumenthal belonged to the office of Körbecke and was administered by a local mayor. After that, the hamlet was part of the Bremen office (today Ense ) until 1969 . On July 1, 1969, Blumenthal was incorporated into Werl.
