Gerhard Ribbeheger

Gerhard Ribbeheger (born November 27, 1918 in Drensteinfurt ; † November 12, 2007 in Haltern am See ) was a German politician ( center ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Ribbeheger studied theology and philosophy. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in World War II as a soldier and was most recently taken prisoner. After the end of the war he joined the police administration. Later he was the managing director of a private company.

Political party

Ribbeheger joined the center , became first chairman of the Windthorstbund youth organization in 1953 and was national chairman of the German Center Party from 1969 to 1974 and from 1987 to 1996. In the 1989 election to the European Parliament, Ribbeheger was the center’s top candidate.

MP

Ribbeheger was elected to the City Council of Haltern in 1946 (until 1957) and was a member of the district council from 1948. In the first federal election in 1949 he was elected to the German Bundestag via the state list of the Center Party in North Rhine-Westphalia , of which he was a member until 1953. On December 14, 1951, the Center Party entered into a parliamentary group with the Bavarian Party (BP) under the name Föderalistische Union (FU). From 1969 to 1979 he was again a city councilor in Haltern.

Ribbeheger was mayor from 1949 to 1957 and then city ​​director of the city of Haltern until 1961 .
