Franz Berding

Franz Berding (born May 11, 1915 in Fürstenau , Osnabrück district , † February 16, 2010 in Münster , Westphalia ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school and grammar school at the St. Ludwig College in Vlodrop / Netherlands , he passed the final examination. He studied economics in Münster and Freiburg (Breisgau) and in 1939 received a degree in economics . From January 1940 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in July 1945.

Berding was from February 1946 to December 1963 managing director of the Ahaus district craftsmen's association. From January 1964 until 1969 he was the general manager of the Chamber of Crafts for the Münster administrative district .

politics

Berding joined the CDU as a member in 1946. This was later followed by managerial functions in the Ahaus local chair, in the Ahaus district board, in the Münsterland district and in the Westphalia-Lippe regional board and its SME association.

From 1963 to 1964 he was mayor of the city of Ahaus , where he was a member of the city council from 1952 to 1964 and chaired the CDU parliamentary group from 1956 to 1961.

From 1961 to 1964 Berding took over the office of deputy district administrator in the then Ahaus district , of which he was a member from 1952 to 1967.

He was also a member of the Westphalia-Lippe Landscape Assembly from 1964 to 1972 .

From 1954 to 1969 Berding was always directly elected member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia : for three electoral terms of the constituency of Ahaus and for one electoral term for the constituency of Münster-Stadt II. There he held the office of 1st vice-president for one day (from July 25 to July 26, 1966). The state parliament elected him a member of the fourth and fifth federal assemblies . From 26 July to 8 December 1966, he was one of the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Planning, Housing and Public Works the Cabinet Meyers III to.

He was then a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1972 ( Münster city and state ).
