The Prosper Park in Bottrop is an urban green area on the site of the former Prosper III colliery .

The eleven hectare park, designed by the landscape architects Schmelzer and Bezzenberger from Stuttgart, stretches along Hugo-Reckmann-Strasse in the west and is bounded in an arc by Friedrich-Bitter-Weg in the east. The park, the "Prosper III" industrial area and the surrounding residential development with a small retail center were created as the "Prosper Quarter" as part of the Emscherpark International Building Exhibition at the end of the 1990s. As part of the IBA, the project was considered a fast runner and was completed as one of the first recultivation and development measures.

The Prosper III mine mined coal here from 1906 to 1986 with its 6 and 7 shafts. In addition, there was a coking plant with a coke gas plant and light oil production plant, an ammonia factory with salt storage, a benzene factory with tar production and sewage treatment plants. After the colliery was closed, the daytime facilities were completely demolished, only a protego hood and a ground monument still bear witness to the location of the former shafts. The contaminated soil was poured and sealed in the center of the site, moving around 450,000 cubic meters of soil and sealing compound. The resulting heap is now the park.

The slightly arched terrain, which rises up to around five meters above the surrounding level, is accessed all around by stone stairs and inside by partially paved hiking trails. In the middle, the Kardinal-Hengsbach-Straße, which is exclusively laid out as a bike and footpath, crosses the park as a deep incision with steep flanks, a bridge connects the two halves of the park at a height. In the southern area there is the Protego hood, in the northern part there is a horizontal rope pulley fitted into a recess in the floor as a landmark, as well as a football field with two steel football goals and a fenced basketball field. The extensive meadows are interrupted by straight lines and groves of birch trees, and there are a few park benches along the paths.

The Emscher-Park-Weg leads through the park.
