Protector Super Lite
The Protector Super Lite is a particularly light and compact remote-controlled weapon station (RWS) for mounting on vehicles. The manufacturer is the Norwegian company Kongsberg Protech Systems .

Technically, the Super Lite is based on the widely used and much heavier Protector M151 weapon stations and contains many identical parts. The system consists of a vibration-damped (soft mount) weapon platform, a fire control system and the operating elements. There are currently two widely available machine guns designed for use with the Super Lite:
- M240 / MAG-58 machine gun in 7.62 mm caliber
- M249 / mini-mi light machine gun in caliber 5.56 mm
The weight of the complete system including weapon and 200 rounds of ammunition is around 50 kg. The overall height is approx. 55 cm. A special feature of this weapon station is the quick assembly and disassembly. The weapon and weapon station can be removed in a few simple steps and used on a tripod independently of the vehicle. Manual operation is also possible. The sensor system has a modular structure. The target is recognized either by a CCD camera or an infrared camera . The video signal is displayed on a screen inside the vehicle. The weapon station is controlled with a joystick or other control elements. Dynamic stabilization of the weapon station to enable effective use while driving is also possible.
