Protein pattern diagnostics
The protein pattern diagnostics ( synonym : proteome analysis) is not established, a new, non-invasive diagnostic procedures in medicine. With the help of capillary electrophoresis coupled with mass spectrometry (CE-MS technology), a proteome pattern is created from urine and also from blood plasma . This allows disease-specific changes in polypeptides to be recognized and evaluated as diagnostic biomarkers . The sensitivity of the examination is over 90% and the specificity of 80–90% is quite high.
Test systems are available for urine diagnostics for the following diseases:
- Prostate cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Chronic kidney disease (differentiated from Minimal Change Disease (MCD), Membranous Glomerulonephritis (MNGN), Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy (IgA Nephropathy), Lupropathy Nephritis (SLE), Vascular Nephropathies

The diagnostic method is currently not common clinical practice. Statutory health insurance does not cover the costs .
