The Protestantse Kerk (also called Petruskerk ) is a Protestant church in the district of 's-Heer Arendskerke in the Dutch city of Goes ( province of Zeeland ).

history

The longhouse

The church was consecrated to St. Simon Peter until the Reformation . It was mentioned for the first time in 1275 as a parish of the church of the neighboring Wissekerke . The church in Baarsdorp was in turn separated from the Peterskirche . The Baarsdorper church was closed down in 1880 and the believers there today again form a common parish with 's-Heer Arendskerke within the Protestant Church in the Netherlands .

The oldest part of the church is the monumental Gothic tower from the 14th century. The nave was built at the end of the 15th century. The choir, which no longer had a liturgical function in the Reformed service, was closed in 1859, the walled-in triumphal arch can still be seen. A sacristy was built in the place of the choir . The nave is prepared as a sermon church . Archaeological excavations have proven the earlier choir as a recently closed building from the 14th century, to which a also just closed northern side choir was added in the 15th century.
