Protoderm

The protoderm is a partially differentiated tissue on the outer cell layer of the shoot and root apex. It belongs to the primary meristem . After a further anticlinic differentiation , a primary permanent tissue develops from the protoderm, the so-called epidermis or rhizodermis .
