Proud is a song by the North Macedonian singer Tamara Todevska and the country's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv , Israel . The song qualified through the second semi-final on May 16, 2019 for the final on May 18, 2019; there he reached seventh place with 305 points, the best result so far for the country.
Music and lyrics
It is a ballad pop - song with some Balkan -typical folk elements. He calls on women and girls to be proud and speak up. "Tell them Raise your voice and say it loudly / Show them, what it means to stand up proudly / Tell them / This is me and thanks to you I am proud".

The song was written by the ESC-experienced team consisting of Darko Dimitrov, Robert Bibliov, Lazar Cvetkoski, Kosta Petrov and Sanja Popovska. He was selected internally by North Macedonian television.
The song should be presented to the public on March 4, 2019; However, according to the official Twitter account of the North Macedonian delegation, this has been postponed to March 8th to present him on International Women's Day.
Eurovision Song Contest
North Macedonia was drawn into the second semifinals on May 16, 2019, appeared in 17th position and was able to reach second place with 239 points. In the final two days later on May 18, Proud was presented in eighth place out of 26 contributions and reached eighth place with 295 points. During the announcement of the jury ratings after the final, the song even led for a long time and ended up in second place with 237 jury points. He only got 58 points from the spectators, which dropped him to eighth place with a total of 295 points. The result was later corrected to seventh place with 305 points (now 247 jury points and first place in the jury evaluation).
The ARD wrote that Tamara Todevska sang her way to an “excellent seventh place” with the “proud ballad”.
