Process unit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The process unit is part of the in-company training in the Swiss apprenticeship as a businessman . The learner has to complete two process units per apprenticeship. The average of both grades is 25% for the operational part of the final apprenticeship examination .

Realization of a process unit

The learner receives a written assignment from his teaching company with the topic, the specific tasks and the learning journal. The trainee deals with this assignment intensively and independently. For each process unit, the learner has to depict an operational process in the form of a flow chart . Process units are very complex and time-consuming tasks that take 5 to 25 hours. After the learner has written his documentation on the required topic, he gives it to his professional trainer for assessment (the 2 process unit is given to the experts, but not presented). The vocational trainer evaluates the process unit according to the defined assessment criteria and decides to what extent the process unit is understood and mastered. The learner receives a number of points for his written documentation. The work must then be presented in the inter-company course, with the presentation being assessed by experts. The total number of points for the written work and the presentation then results in the grade for the process unit, which then counts towards the final apprenticeship examination. The points are distributed as follows: For each sub-area (element) of the PE, max. To get 9 points. Each element is divided into 3 criteria, each of which can be awarded 0-3 points. The distribution of the points looks like this; 3 points for: well fulfilled (in the sense of "perfect, at learner level) 2 points for: fulfilled 1 point for: partially fulfilled 0 points for: not fulfilled

In parallel to the process unit, the learners keep a learning journal. They write down their experiences, their positive as well as negative experiences and review their thinking steps and experiences again. They also document suggestions for improving their own behavior. From the knowledge gained, they draw the consequences for their future actions. The learning journal is summarized in an evaluation sheet. The evaluation sheet is also part of the PE.
