The pseudoxenodontinae are occurring in Southeast Asia, China and Taiwan subfamily smaller snakes from the family of snakes (Colubridae). The snakes sometimes colonize mountain regions. Thermophis baileyi occurs even in Tibet at altitudes of 3000 to 4000 meters.

features

The species belonging to the Pseudoxenodontinae are small to medium-sized and 40 to 120 cm long.

The diagnostic feature of the subfamily is the very deeply forked hemipenes . Each hemipenis is covered with calyces, small and unicellular structures that form a complex pattern of folds, while the middle part is bare on its part facing outwards from the body. Large papillae arranged in fringes separate the bare area from that occupied with calyces.
