Publius Aelius Crispinus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Publius Aelius Crispinus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD . Individual stations of his career are known through an inscription. His career is in the inscription as cursus inversus , d. H. in descending order.

Crispinus had only the highest level of his military career recorded in the inscription, which he reached, namely that he became Primus Pilus a second time . After his military career, he took on civil functions in administration. First he was procurator in the province of Hispania Tarraconensis . He then became governor (also with the rank of procurator) in the province of Mauretania Tingitana around 169/176 ; in this capacity he is attested by another inscription found in Volubilis , which is dated to 173. Subsequently, he was initially entrusted as a procurator in Rome with the administration of the inheritance tax at the rate of 5% ( XX hereditatium ) and then responsible for inheritance matters ( hereditatium ). For his last office he returned to North Africa, where he became governor (procurator) in the province of Mauretania Caesariensis around 176/180 .

Crispinus came from Flavia Solva .
