Pulmonary osteoma

Pulmonary osteomas

Pulmonary osteomas are about 2 mm large, clearly demarcated, mineralized nodules in the lungs of older dogs . The number and distribution are variable. Pulmonary osteomas have no disease value and are considered incidental findings. Because of their high X-ray density , they are clearly visible. They can usually be differentiated from other focal changes in the lungs, such as tumors , due to their small size, since they usually have to be at least 5 mm in size in order to be recognized in the chest X-ray .
