As Pulp Painting (German: pulp painting), a handsheet procedure of papermaking referred to, wherein the in mass colored raw material ( pulp ) in a more or less thick layer on the Schöpfsieb or a handmade, yet it floating (fresh) laid paper sheet is applied . As with the fresco, the pigment pulls into the mass and therefore retains its freshness and brilliance. The pattern or motif is achieved with the help of cords, twine or knitting. These are attached to the sieve beforehand (area delimitation) or after the compound has been applied ( lines ). During the drying process, the strings can be removed ( relief ) and the mass itself can be worked on with your fingers, for example shaped, kneaded or crumpled.

Artists like Kenneth Noland , David Hockney or AR Penck have worked with this technique.
