Pulvillus (arthropod)
The pulvillus , also known as “adhesive lobe” in German, is a lobe-shaped adhesive organ on the foot segment ( tarsus ) of the legs of arthropods . The pulvillae lie on the underside of the claws and have adhesive hairs. They increase the adhesion to smooth surfaces. A bristle ( setiform ) or lobe-shaped ( pulvilli-shaped ) sole lobe ( empodium ) can be formed between the pulvillae .
