Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pie is a traditional US dessert that is particularly popular on Halloween , Thanksgiving, and Christmas .

A pudding-like mass is made from pumpkin , egg and sweetened condensed milk or cream, which is used as a filling for the pie. The mass is seasoned with cinnamon , ginger , cloves , nutmeg and optionally cardamom and has an intense taste. Sometimes ready-made pumpkin pie seasoning is also used.

In a piezo, tart - or spring form sheeted dough is placed and filled with the pumpkin mass. The dough consists of flour, salt, butter and water. The pie is baked in the oven so long that the filling is just firm but has not yet formed a crust. The cooled pie is usually served with sweetened whipped cream.
