The Purple Agatapfel also Agatapfel or Purple Winteragatapfel called, is a variety of culture apple ( Malus domestica ).

It is a small, blunt, rounded and evenly built table apple. The skin is frosted, initially yellow and later greenish-yellow. The ripe apple has an intense red (purple) color and is striped. The apple is ready to eat from December and can be stored until April.

In Theodor Engelbrecht's (Braunschweig 1889) list of “Germany's apple varieties” , the purple agate apple bears the number 468.

The apple variety Zuccalmaglios Renette is a cross between the purple agate apple and the pineapple renette .
