List of apple varieties |
The pineapple renette is a variety of the cultivated apple ( Malus domestica ). She is one of the Renetten . It comes from the Benelux countries and has been cultivated in the Rhineland since 1820 .
The pineapple renette is a classic variety in the home garden, as it is both a good commercial apple (for juicing, canning, cooking, baking, etc.) and a good dessert fruit for direct consumption. The fruits of the pineapple roll with their special aroma typical of the variety (juicy and aromatic) remain rather small. They ripen in mid to late October and, with appropriate storage, remain ready to eat until February. The fruits develop an intense pineapple scent in a warm environment.
The tree is susceptible to powdery mildew and fruit tree cancer and reacts to dry weather conditions by producing very small, less aromatic fruits. The tree shows poor growth and needs a higher quality soil.
The variety is one of the "fruit varieties that can be recognized according to § 6 Paragraph 4 of the Ordinance on the Marketing of Cultivation Material for Vegetables, Fruit and Ornamental Plants and the Repeal of the Ordinance to Combat Viral Diseases in Fruit Growing (Cultivation Material Ordinance - AGOZ) , without being protected or authorized ”.
