Ketupat

Ketupat is a dumpling-like rice dish from Southeast Asia . Ketupat is most common in Indonesia , Malaysia , Brunei, and Singapore . In the Philippines , a similar dish is known as puso ( Cebuano ) and Bugnoy ( Hiligaynon ). It is mainly served at festivals such as breaking the fast after the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan (known there as Hari Raya Aidilfitri ).

Rice filled with palm leaves is cooked in a woven bag , which expands so that it fills the bag and clumps. This ketupat is usually served with opor ayam (chicken in coconut soup) or satay (meat skewers).
