The Bavarian Pwg Bay 70 are two-axle baggage cars for use in freight trains according to sheet 241 from the car register for the Royal Bavarian State Railways from March 31, 1913 (or sketch no.138 from the car register from March 31, 1897) .

history

The wagons are those which the KBSts.B. after the takeover of the BOB in 1876. The cars ran under the class "D" at the BOB and were classified in the class "P" when they were taken over . The wagons are the last BOB acquisition before being taken over by the state railways.

procurement

These wagons were procured as the last series of baggage cars for the BOB. It was a type of car that was delivered with slightly larger dimensions than the first series from 1858. The wagons were intended exclusively for use in freight trains and were delivered between 1870 and 1875.

Constructive features

Underframe

The frame of the car was made entirely of iron profiles. As a towing device, the wagons had screw couplings according to VDEV . The drawbar was spring-loaded throughout and in the middle. The wagons originally had rod buffers as a shock device with an installation length of 620 mm and 360 mm for the buffer plates.

drive

The cars had axle brackets of the short, straight design riveted from sheet metal and angles. The axles were stored in sliding axle bearings. The wheels had spoked wheel bodies of the Bavarian type 23. The 1764 millimeter long suspension springs each had six leaves. The cross-section of the leaves was 96 × 13 millimeters. There was a hand spindle brake that could be operated from the pulpit of the service room. In the middle of the car there was the brake deflection in the typical Bavarian design.

Car body

The frame of the car body consisted of a wooden frame structure, which was stiffened by steel drawstrings. The outer cladding of the car body consisted of sheet metal, the joints of which were covered with cover strips. Inside, the wagons were lined with wooden strips. The side and front walls were straight. The car body was divided into a large area for storing luggage and a 2060 mm wide service compartment. In addition, there was a toilet that was accessible from both sides and two dog boxes. The flat barrel roof was provided on one side of the service area with a pulpit integrated into the car body, based on the BOB design. This served the train driver for observation and as a brakeman's position. This brakeman's position was accessible from both the inside and outside of the car. There was a 1460 mm wide sliding door on both sides for loading and unloading, which stood on rollers and was guided with head bars.

Furnishing

The wagons were illuminated with oil lamps. In the years 1926 to 1929 electrical lighting was installed.

All cars were equipped with a toilet.

It was heated by a stove in the service room. There were static fans on the roof for ventilation. The cars were all equipped with a line for steam heating and could therefore also be lined up in passenger trains.
