The Python Software Foundation ( PSF ) is the organization behind the open source project for the Python programming language . She is the publisher and legal owner of the Python Software Foundation license and owns the trademark rights to Python.

The Python Software Foundation is a non-profit organization under US law based in the state of Delaware (USA) . The members of the organization are made up of individuals who have made significant contributions to Python and companies that sponsor the organization. Sponsorships include other companies such as Google , Microsoft , Red Hat and Canonical . The Python Software Foundation was established on March 6, 2001. The president of the organization is the founder of the Python programming language Guido van Rossum . The members meet annually at the PyCon developer conference organized by the Python Software Foundation, which has also been organized by the Python Software Association as PyCon DE for the German-speaking area since 2011.

Python Software Association

In the German-speaking area, the Python Software Association represents the interests of users of the open source programming language Python in Germany, Austria and the German-speaking part of Switzerland and maintains contact with companies that use Python, with scientists and end users.

Python Software Foundation License

The Python Software Foundation license is similar to the BSD license and compatible with the GNU General Public License .
