Qeqertarsuaq [ qɜˌqɜˈtːɑsːuɑq ] ( German "big island" ) is an island in the district of Uummannaq in the Avannaata Kommunia , Greenland . The island is located in the Karrat Fjord and has an area of 265 km². Neighboring islands are Illorsuit and Upernivik . The island has a settlement called Nuugaatsiaq in the south .
The highest point is the Snehætten with 1765 meters.
