Qina or Qena ( Arabic قنا, DMG Qinā ) is a city in Upper Egypt and the capital of Qina Governorate .

It is located on the east bank of the Nile . Qina was known as Kaine during the Greco-Roman period. The population is 214,851 (2008 calculation) or 206,831 inhabitants (2006 census).

Qina has been largely restored and took third place in the UNESCO City Beauty Contest.
