Ghods ( Persian : قدس, also known as Qods or Shahr-e Qods , formerly Karaj, Qal'eh Hasan or Qal'eh-ye Ḩasan Khān) is a city and capital of the Ghods administrative district in Tehran Province . In 2016 the city had over 309,000 inhabitants.
history
Ghods is one of the oldest settlements in Tehran Province. The first bathhouse was built in the 1240s and the first public school was founded in 1341. Before the parish was founded in 1989, Ghods was a village with a fortress. The city's rapid growth began a few decades ago when many factories were built near the old highway. The favorable geographic location has made the city an attractive center for migrants from other parts of the country over the past few decades.

The city has three universities, including an offshoot of Islamic Azad University .
