Quazar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The band Quazar was founded by singer and guitarist Glen Goins and his brother Kevin Goins in 1978 in Detroit .

Glen Goins left the loose P-Funk musician conglomerate around George Clinton in 1977 after financial disputes over the course of the release of the album Funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome came. For the most part, the debut album was co-written and produced by former P-Funk musician Jerome Brailey and was intended to bring out the remarkable musical talents of Glen Goins. Trombonist Fred Wesley once called Goins the greatest singer he had ever heard.

Glen Goins suffered from Hodgkin's disease and died during the recording process in late 1978. The album could still be completed by his brother Kevin Goins and Jerome Braily and was released by the record company Arista Records . After the death of Glen Goins there was no band to promote the album, and the rest of the musicians had no intention of starting a new one. The debut album disappeared without much response and was only rediscovered and reissued in the course of the “ rare groove ” movement.
