from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Queen (formerly The Queen ) is a magazine founded in 1862 that was initially aimed at an aristocratic readership. Towards the end of the 1950s, the magazine's profile was changed to appeal to a younger, broader audience. During the time of " Swinging London ", Queen was considered to be one of the style-defining magazines of the time, primarily positioning itself in the area of women's fashion. In 1968 the magazine was sold to the competition from Harper's Bazaar and was initially called "Harper's & Queen" since 1970, later the "Queen" dropped out of the name and the magazine was only called "Harper's Bazaar". In the early 1960s, David Hamilton was the magazine's artistic director.
