Querença is a town and former municipality in the Algarve in Portugal . It belongs to the district of Loulé and is located about 10 km north of Loulé, on the southern foothills of the Serra de Caldeirão .

The Church of the Assumption of Mary ( Igreja Matriz ) dates from the 16th century. Querença was mainly known regionally for its festivals such as the Festa das Chouriças (sausage festival; in January), the Festa do Petisco (delicatessen festival; in August) and the Festa dos Folares ("Easter cake festival "). The Fonte da Benémola spring , which is under nature protection, is also well-known , below which one can admire the diversity of local flora and fauna along the Ribeira da Menalva river.

In 1997, the area of ​​the Freguesia was reduced significantly by the establishment of the Freguesia Tôr .

In the course of the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , Querença was merged with Tôr and Benafim to form the new municipality of Querença, Tôr e Benafim .
