The Strait of Tiran crossing is a proposal to connect Egypt and Saudi Arabia with a causeway and bridge over the Strait of Tiran . The entire project would be nearly four billion US dollars cost. The crossing would connect Tabuk in Saudi Arabia and the resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula on the Red Sea and pass Tiran at the entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba .

In the spring of 2016, the Saudi King Salman Abdul Aziz Al Saud said after a visit to Cairo that the plan should be implemented in connection with the major Neom project .
