Quiani is a prehistoric clam pile that has been archaeologically examined . A pre-ceramic stage and a later cultural group are named after this site, which existed around the same time as the Chinchorro culture , which is known because of the mummy finds .

It is located about four kilometers south of Arica at an estuary that interrupts the inaccessible steep bank of the northern Chilean coast and allows access to the beach. In the lowest layers (around 4000 BC) the complex is characterized by fish hooks made of mussel shells and leaf tips. Bolastones and choppers were found in the upper layers (around 250 BC) .
