Quinta do Conventinho

The Quinta do Conventinho is a former country estate ( Portuguese quinta ) in the Freguesia Santo António dos Cavaleiros ( Loures district ).

history

The building was erected as a Franciscan monastery in the 16th century . After all religious orders were abolished in Portugal in the first half of the 19th century, the building stood empty. António Bernardo da Costa Cabral , 1º Conde of Tomar and First Minister of the Queen bought the property. In the 1990s, the Câmara Municipal of Loures acquired the property and housed a district museum there.
