Councilors
Rätovarians (also Raetovarians , Latin: Raetobarii ) were an Alemannic tribe, probably in the Nördlinger Ries . The tribe is only mentioned in the Notitia dignitatum , after which they served together with the Bucinobanten in the court army ( auxilia palatina ) of the Eastern Empire.
The name is made up of the name of the Roman province of Raetia and the Germanic stem * -warijôz »inhabitant«, ie "inhabitant of the (former) province Raetia ".
