The mange the mice is a parasitic skin disease caused by mites is caused. Myocoptes musculinus and myobia musculi are the most common .

Mange mites can also be found in mice without clinical symptoms. A clinical manifestation occurs above all in disorders of the immune system such as poor housing conditions, malnutrition or in old animals. Then brownish rings of mite droppings and severe itching can appear. Ulcerative dermatitis and hair loss can occur in young mice and very old animals .

The diagnosis is made by looking at the skin lesions under a strong magnifying glass or by detecting mites in a skin scrap . Ivermectin is usually used for treatment , which can be dripped onto the skin or injected under the skin. A single treatment is usually sufficient.
