The volume is the stowage coefficient of a ship. It is a measured variable that indicates the hold volume in cubic meters per ton of cargo on a ship . Due to their different stowage factors, it is calculated for general cargo and bulk cargoes and , as the quotient of the cargo space and load capacity, shows how much cargo of a certain stowage factor can be transported with the given carrying capacity of the ship.
