The Récif du Merle ( French for blackbird reef ) is a reef in the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . The reef is at the head of the Baie Pierre Lejay .
French scientists named it after the wind noises heard here, which reminded them of the song of a blackbird .
