Réveil Democratique des Masses

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Réveil Démocratique des Masses (RDM) is a party from the West African state of Burkina Faso .

The RDM was officially approved as a party at the national level on March 2, 2005. Eugène Diendéré has presided over the party since it was founded.

Current

Despite the young age, the RDM achieved a respectable success on the occasion of the local elections in April 2006, because it was able to win 146 seats in various municipalities. In view of the total number of municipal council seats of over 17,000, that doesn't sound like much, but it makes the RDM number eleven among the over forty parties that won seats in these elections. With this, the RDM had proven that it has a supraregional mobilization potential.

The RDM no longer took part in the 2007 parliamentary elections as an independent party, but instead formed an electoral union with three other parties under the name of the largest alliance partner, the Union pour la République .

ideology

The "democratic awakening of the masses," the German translation of the party name, does not have a clear political profile, they politicized rather than protest party , fights for example against unfairly perceived distribution of land, mismanagement or political arbitrariness, for which they the ruling party CDP blames . At a press conference on February 26, 2007, the President of the Union pour la République (UPR), an alliance partner, underlined that “ideology is out of date”.
