Río Sixaola is the name of the border river that divides Panama and Costa Rica on the Atlantic coast (north coast). The river is 146 km long and flows into the Atlantic Ocean .
Sixaola is also the commonly known name of the border crossing between Panama and Costa Rica as well as the name of the place on the Costa Rican side of the border. Guabito is on the Panamanian side .
The border crossing consists of a steel arch bridge that can be driven in only one direction and leads over the Río Sixaola. In the middle of the bridge there is a sign with the inscription "Costa Rica - Panamá", which shows the traveler in which country he is now.
