Tube corals (Stolonifera) are subordinate to the soft corals (Alcyonacea). Some authors regard it as an informal group for practical reasons only. Here families with a similar growth habit are grouped together, which do not have to be closely related.
features
The tube corals form webs lying flat on the ground, from which the polyps protrude only a few millimeters high. They are considered primitive forms in the subclass of Alcyonaria.
