Band history

The band Rökurrentó was founded at the beginning of 2006 by Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir, Arnór Gunnarsson, Árni Þór Árnason, Björn Pálmi Pálmason and Ingibjörg Elsa Turchi in Reykjavík. They had their very first appearance in March of the same year in a small club in the Icelandic capital. Major gigs, which helped the band gain initial popularity in their home country, took place later in the year, including at the largest Icelandic music festival, Iceland Airwaves . The band released a self-recorded EP just before they were discovered by Icelandic record company 12 Tónar . After several months of sessions in the record studio, the debut album Það kólnar í kvöld ... (It gets cold in the evening) was released there, first on October 17th, 2007 in Iceland, and then on April 4th, 2008 via Cargo Records in Germany. During a European tour with the Icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds , the band came to Germany in June 2008. Since the singer Hildur started studying in Japan, the band took a break from summer 2011. On October 27th, 2014 they released their third album Innra which is sung in English for the first time. In addition, the sound was supported with a little more electronic sounds.
