Eidsbugarden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eidsbugarden is a small Norwegian town located at the western end of Bygdin Lake, southeast of Jotunheimen National Park.

In Eidsbugarden there are around 160 private huts, the DNT hut Fondsbu and the mountain hotel of the same name ( Høyfjellshotell Eidsbugarden ) built in 1909 and reopened in 2006 . From here, numerous hiking trails go north to Jotunheimen. These lead u. a. to the hikers' cabins Skogadalsbøen , Olavsbu , Gjendebu , Torfinnsbu and Yksendalsbu .

The place can be reached by car via Riksvei 252 from Tyinkrysset , or in summer with the M / B Bitihorn from Bygdin, which is at the eastern end of the lake. Instead, snowmobiles drive across the lake in winter.

The poet Aasmund Olavsson Vinje had a small hut ( Vinjestua ) in Eidsbugarden , which is still standing today. In 1959 a memorial was erected not far from it, a 1.5 m high granite bust.

Every year on the first weekend in August, the Vinjerock music festival takes place in Eidsbugarden .
