Roemer-Helme is a German company for motorcycle accessories with headquarters in Olpe in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Founded in Ulm in 1872 , Römer motorcycle helmets initially manufactured officers' helmets for the German Empire . As one of the first manufacturers in the world, the first motorcycle helmets made of glass fiber reinforced plastic were developed and produced at the beginning of the 20th century . Protective helmets for the Bundeswehr , fire brigade and THW followed later .

The company Roleff Motorrad-Mode GmbH has been the brand owner of Römer helmets since 2006. Product development and worldwide sales take place at the headquarters in Olpe . In 2010 the balance sheet total was over 2.6 million euros.

engagement

Römer was heavily involved in motorcycle racing and was able to take great strides in improving the safety of crash helmets. Innovations followed in the development of the Porsche Design helmet with an internal visor, for example .

Successor company

The company filed for liquidation on July 11, 2015 . The trademark rights were transferred to the newly founded Römer Systems GmbH in July 2015. The company's headquarters are in Olpe.
