The pool Roman bath in Bonn district of Bonn-Castell ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ) directly on the Rhine is named after the once located at this point Roman baths. The facility, opened in 1939 and rebuilt in 1974, is the largest and most visited leisure pool in the city of Bonn.

Swimming pool

The following water areas are available:

  • 8 × 50 meter sports pool (50 × 21 meters, 2.20 meters deep)
  • 8 × 40 meter swimming pool
  • Diving pool (18 × 18 meters, 5.00 meters deep) with 10 m diving board (includes: 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, five-meter and ten-meter platforms)
  • Wave pool

There is a sand playground with a play area and a lawn for sunbathing. Today's lawn for sunbathing is located on the area of ​​the swimming pool from 1939. There is an 80 year old mulberry tree.

From 1953 to 1961, helicopters of the Bonn-Brussels airline landed in the area of ​​today's ball game field . Up to 12 people could be transported per machine. In 1957 there were around 400 flights.

The pool can be heated. Approx. All pools hold 6.2 million liters of water, and it takes about 40 hours to fill it.

Events

In 1989 the European Swimming Championships took place here.

The lap pool is approved for international water polo games .

On September 17, 1989, the band BAP gave an open air concert on the lawn.

Visitor statistics

  • Visitor record: approx. 170,000 visitors in 2003 (as of 2013)
  • In 2012 around 63,000 tickets were sold. In addition, there are visits by children under 7 years of age who have free entry.

Transport links

There are regular buses from Stadtwerke Bonn to the Römerbad . The adjacent parking spaces can be expanded for large events. The outdoor pool is barrier-free.
