The Roman Museum Lausanne-Vidy ( French Musée romain de Lausanne-Vidy ) is an archaeological museum in Lausanne .

history

The first Roman museum in Lausanne was founded and set up in 1936 by Frédéric Gilliard . At this point there was once a domus of the Gallo-Roman vicus Lousonna.

After a renovation and expansion, today's museum opened in the same place in November 1993. In addition to changing special exhibitions, the permanent exhibition “Lousanna passé présent” has been showing finds from Lousanna since 2002. The life of the residents of that time is presented through various everyday objects and tools, including bronze dishes, jewelry or colored glass vases. An ensemble of seventy gold coins can also be seen.

The museum also includes the gardens around the building. It is on the archaeological promenade that leads to the other Roman remains at Vidy.

The museum is part of the Swiss inventory of cultural assets of national and regional importance .
