The roes in Thorskov ( Danish Røserne i Thorskov ) near Moesgård south of Aarhus in Jutland , Denmark , were archaeologically examined in 1958 and 1976 . At the same time, an old heap of reading stones ( Rydningsrøse in Danish ) was examined to identify the differences. The Rösen (also called Gravrøsen) in Thorskov (Thorwald) are located south of the Thorsmøllevej.

The round rose, excavated in 1958, had a diameter of nine meters. It consisted of two curb rings and a stone layer. Several grindstones were found between the field stones. Three graves were found beneath the stones. The graves were mixed with broken pottery and burned bones , among other things . The Röse was partially destroyed, which is why it was difficult to identify the graves more precisely.

The round rose, excavated in 1976, had a diameter of eight meters and a height of 0.7 m. The Röse had three curb rings and under the field stones of the stone stratification six runners of millstones were found. There were at least eight graves under the stones. This rose had also been partially destroyed in recent times, which is why it was difficult to identify the graves more precisely.

In the late Bronze Age (1000–500 BC) the dead began to be cremated. Usually their bones were buried in an urn with some personal belongings. The urn was deposited either in the ground or in an existing round earth mound or under a newly created stone mound, the so-called Röse.
