General view of the Röth linden tree

The Röth-Linde in the Munich district of Nederling (district of Moosach ), directly next to Gut Nederling and south of the allotment garden NW 12, is one of the oldest trees with an age of around 300 to 350 years, and according to some sources the oldest tree in the urban area of Munich. It is registered as a natural monument.

The winter lime tree got its name from the painter Philipp Röth , who often sat under the tree and painted landscapes. A plaque on the linden tree reminds of the painter.

The linden tree is 23 meters high and has a trunk circumference of 6.24 meters. Due to the old age of the tree, extensive measures were necessary to preserve it in its current form. Among other things, eight metal crown locks were installed for crown maintenance.
